Media storage can be a real dilemma. Without any storage, it can seem that our homes are over run by DVDs and CDs. Establishing a storage system can reign in the disorganized clutter from all the marauding DVDs and CDs taking over your living room. Where to start? First, consider the space you have for storage in your living room or the room most of your media components are located. Next, how much media do you need to store? Do you have a handful of CDs and a lot of DVDs or a lot of everything? In addition, if you have children, you may want to keep their media – movies and music- separate from your own, partly so they can find their movies easily. If you don’t have a lot of media to store than this is less of an issue. Another consideration is if you want to even store all of your media in the same location. If you would prefer to have some of your CDs in your office, some with the kitchen CD player, and the rest in the living room, then, you will need multiple storage containers for your CDs for the various locations, even if you don’t have a lot in any one single location. The last element to take into consideration is how the media storage will fit in with the overall look of your room. Your personal style and taste will come into play as well as the number of DVDs you own. Do you want to get started?

Let’s start with two of the items to consider. If you have a lot, and I mean, a collector’s or professional’s worth of media, you should consider an American made product that we have available at SpaceSavers – the Omni Wall Mount Media Rack. It is available in black or silver and will not only make accessing your CDs and DVDs easier, it will look stunning on your wall. What is so amazing about this wall mounted media rack is that it has the feel of browsing a tall library sized bookcase, but instead of searching the spines for books, you have the ultimate media storage system for organizing and viewing your media collection. One rack, which is expandable, will hold up to 512 CDs, 270 DVDs, or 132 VHS tapes. This rack comes with eight shelves and eight pairs of media end-stops to hold the media upright. You can purchase additional end stops. You can also join more than one rack to each other to create an even bigger media library. This American made wall mounted media rack is the ultimate media hound’s dream display for organizing media.

Stepping down from the ultimate mega – collection of media, if you only have some CDs and some DVDs, we have holders that can store them vertically, horizontally for long term storage or for easily accessible storage. Decide which one you want, long or easily accessible, and order according to how much media you have. One thing to keep in mind, however, is if you are limited on space, you might want to minimize your footprint by utilizing a vertical storage tower that can get all of your CDs stored in a manner that maximizes the space you do have. Otherwise, you could consider installing some wall mounted shelving that can hold small bins of your media. Wall mounted storage is a good solution when short on space. For long term storage where you just want to preserve your media, but don’t plan on accessing it except for infrequently, it might be wise to invest in storage containers that are airtight and water resistant to better protect your media.

A lot or a little, it can be organized with the right media storage containers, right here at SpaceSavers.
